In the (non-current) statutes, article number 2 stated the following:

"The purposes of the association are:

1.- Group all users of the Java programming language in Catalonia as well as other aspects related to this language.
2.- The association is itself an organic representation of the JUG (Java Users Group) in Catalonia, declared within the promotion of user associations (http://community.java.net/jugs/) promoted by the company creator of the language, Sun MicroSystems, indicating that it is declared as a non-profit association and therefore has no commercial connection with the company and only maintains user association links.
3.- Foster and promote the Catalan information society, in all possible areas. Catalan will be declared as the association's language of expression and work."
